selfish

egotistical

the problem.

Our world is sure of one thing

when it comes to men:

we aren’t good enough.

We are wrong.

Or at least,

not right enough.

What should we be doing?

The opposite of what we are.

Men are losing identity.

(Value was lost long ago)

“Why can’t you be more like him?”

“You’re not emotionally available”

“Ugh! Men!”

“He’s never home”

“He’s never at work”

“Stop sooking!”

“Grow up!”

Into what? Into whom?

If every model of masculinity has been cancelled and condemned, and every cultural strip of masculinity branded as ‘toxic’, what trellis is our God-given vine of masculinity supposed to wrap around?

Do you need protecting,

or is that chauvinistic?

Do you need us to work hard,

or is that from the dark ages?

Do you need us to play with the kids,

or get us out of debt?

When you are told you are the problem

and held accountable

to an ever-changing standard

It’s no surprise that

the only gathering of men

that our culture deems acceptable

is the one at the bottom of a cliff.
